30th annual montana lineman's rodeo

The Montana Lineman's Rodeo is an annual event held the third Saturday in July. The purpose of the Lineman's Rodeo is to demonstrate the skills line workers use everyday to insure a safe, reliable electrical supply to the citizens of the Inter-mountain West. Public safety and public education are the missions of the Montana Lineman's Rodeo Association, a 501(c)(3) organization of volunteers who administer, promote, and organize the annual Rodeo.

About our organization

The Montana Lineman's Rodeo is supported strictly by volunteer financial and volunteer time donations. We greatly appreciate the efforts of those in the electrical industry, the community, the public and the volunteers who continue to make our Rodeo a success.

We look forward to seeing you all at the 2023 Montana Lineman's Rodeo!

There are several ways to donate to this year's Rodeo including silent and live auctions, and pole and event sponsorship.

LINEMAN'S RODEO

Every year Journeymen Lineman Teams, Apprentices, and Line School Competitors gather in July under the Big Sky, show casing their skills and knowledge of the powerline trade! Events include the speed climb, hurt man rescue, and 2 unknown events demonstrating the proper techniques and various aspects of line building.

The Rodeo provides an opportunity for seasoned lineman and apprentices to come together and share their knowledge while family and friends cheer them on!

**This year, we are proud to announce a Senior Journeymen Lineman Team Division! Lineman ages 50 and up, will have their own division to show us how it is done!!

LADIES POLE CLIMB

This is where we encourage the ladies to put on a belt, strap on some hooks and show the men how it is done!

You climb up a 25 ft pole, ring the bell and the fastest time wins! 100% fall restraint, climbing belt, hooks, and hard hat are provided or feel free to bring your own.

Don't want to compete but have always wanted to climb? We have volunteers to assist you!

BACKHOE RODEO

Operators of all skills can try their luck and finesse, controlling various equipment through 6 obstacles.

We even have a little something for each age group to test their operating skills on!

FAMILY FRIENDLY

We pride ourselves on including the entire family, friends, and those who just want to see what our rodeo is all about! Altec offers free bucket truck rides where you can see the Butte Valley from 100 ft up! The Montana Electric Cooperatives Association demonstrates why we should respect electricity and shares some do's and don'ts when you are around it! Chance brings the ever-popular ladder swing for the kiddos. Various vendors line the rodeo and there is always tasty food to try out!
